Emma Jackson’s Lavender Rose Charity Piano Mindfulness Concert

The Piano Shop Bath took great pride in hosting a live-streaming charity even in June 2021. The event took place in aid of ‘The Lavender Rose Project’, which is a charity that was established by Alice Barnden with the aim of supporting those who suffer with mental health.

The charity was established during the Covid-19 pandemic with the aim of supporting people who are struggling with mental health issues as a result of the pandemic, such as anxiety and stress. Therefore, the live streaming event which featured pianist-composer Emma Jackson was aimed to raise awareness and provide therapeutic support.

The Lavender Rose Project

The project has the aim of educating people on the many different mental health issues that people face. It also provides support to individuals suffering from mental health by providing free resources and care packages. The project was established in 2020 and has since helped almost 1,000 people in the UK while also providing people with a source of support through social media.

Emma Jackson

The power of the Piano is something that Pianist and composer Emma Jackson knows all about. She fully understands how music can become a healer and provide escapism for those suffering from mental health as she has faced mental health issues herself.

Emma harnessed the skills she has obtained as a musician as well as utilising the knowledge of mindfulness meditation, to create a style that is unique to her. Her expertise as an accomplished flautist and piano player has now seen her soothing compositions added to the BBC Sounds Mindful Mix playlist regularly.

Live Streaming

The live streaming event took place on the Lavender Rose Charity Facebook page and lasted for an hour. Following this, there was a short discussion between Alice and Emma whereby they explored the goals of the Lavender Rose Charity.

One of the very few benefits to come from the Covid-19 pandemic is the fact that musicians have adapted to live stream their music performances, recitals and concerts in high definition using smart devices. This is something that has been easily achieved through platforms such as Facebook and Youtube, both of which make promotion and broadcasting simple and intuitive.

The Piano Shop, Bath

We are constantly exploring new ways of supporting charities and local artists and this initiative enabled us to fulfil both, especially as this was a piano-based performance.

Emma performed her recital on a beautifully restored Bluthner Model 4 Grand Piano in the main showroom.
