This project inspired us to create a piece with a playful twist when our client asked for a piano to suit a children’s music room.

To give the piano an extra interactive element we covered the surface in blackboard paint – allowing the player (and their friends!) to doodle all over it to their heart’s content. By blocking out certain parts of the piano with the blackboard paint, we wanted to create a dynamic design that works well when clean, as well as when drawn over.

This design could be adapted to suit many interior spaces, with the interactive element encouraging children and adults alike to engage with the instrument and to have fun with it!
