The Piano Shop Bath has long been interested in piano design and modern updates to piano presentation. Our Painted Piano range is just one example that has proved hugely popular and demonstrates how allowing for a range of colours outside of gloss black is important for our customers. A piano is first and foremost an instrument and its technical qualities are the most important factor when choosing a piano. But a piano is also a very large object which will usually be placed in a living space alongside other furnishings, so how a piano looks is important.

Roland recently held the Roland Digital Piano Design Awards, a competition to find the best and most innovative designs for a future digital piano. The results are remarkable and demonstrate the potential for piano design in the future. There will always be a place for traditional piano design in the piano trade, but there is plenty of space for alternative designs and updates to a well-known and well-loved format.
